Classic wear reminds you of "Breakfast at Tiffanys," preppy attire made for girls who curtsy and are dainty with delight. One of my personal favorites as far as fashion trends go, Classic gives the allure of demure feminine quality and stands out amongst the rest of the trends.
Classic as its names state, never goes out of style and is appreciated by the style maven in us all. Tweeds, plaids, polka dots, and of course black and white are some of the colors and trends that go into the classic style. Pearl necklaces (my personal favorite outfit staple, ask anyone!) add chic uptown style to an outfit that is simple yet makes a statement.
Kitten heels, mary janes (now come with heels!), gold bracelets and watches and some frilly lace pieces add a flirty vibe to your ensemble. So give praise to the original classic girl Audrey Hepburn and work it out classic style!

Fashion Insight: Urban
Urban Fashion like any fashion is a tribute to culture. Urban fashion is groundbreaking and has always been idolized since its premiere in the 80's. Who could forget door knocker earrings, sweat suits and Reeboks? (54/11's for the hood folk).. Jumpers, kangols and more and you were ready for the friday night party scene. Now, for those of you (including myself) who were a little too young to be hitting the town on a friday night, recapture the style and it's new and improved modifications seen in stores everywhere. (Remember us Tommy Hilfiger?)
We've come a long way in urban style and fashion. Until next time, Ms.V.

Fashion Insight: Mod
The re-emerging of 60's style is back with a vengence as Mod fashions is one of the looks for 2007. Originated in London, England and famously remembered for our anti-plush diva Twiggy, the play on modern culture and living is anything but with it's bold prints and colors.
Even the monotonous black and white colors are loud and detailed and will look great on any plush diva. A-line skirts and boxy jackets, ankle boots, trench coats and peep toe shoes are some of the uniform pieces necessary for the mod look.Add skinny jeans, pleated and pencil skirts and you will emerge as a 60's girl too fashionably for the present!

Hey My Plush Divas:
Your girl Ms. V. has had a rough week after suffering a death in the family. These circumstances have left me unable to do what I do best: focus on the fashion. However, I am back, and best believe next week will be on point to make up for my abscense.
Please remember that I am still looking for models and expecting to see you gals sending emails to PlushFashionWatch@yahoo.com
Thanks babes

Spring Fashions 2007 Cont: Animal Print Accessories
Today we are talking about my obsession: Animal Print Accessories! Anyone who knows me, knows that I live for leopard print anything, so today I take special pride in talking about it. Lucky me as this trend is becoming a definite staple in style and fashion.
Ladies, animal print accessories are just that, accessories. Meaning, please don't be that one woman who wears this print from head to toe, not classy. This accessory is meant to compliment an outfit, not drown.
Zebra print breaks up the simplicity of black and white but CANNOT be over done. Use with caution!
Leopard print is a much more versatile print and goes GREAT with the color red and stands out as a funky staple.
I expect my Plush Divas looking animalistic in the streets real soon! Grrr!

Until then..

Spotlight On: MonifC
I came upon this website a couple of days ago and whatever I was doing didn't matter, I saw the dress of my dreams. After I wiped the saliva from my mouth, I did as much research as I could on these DEE-LICIOUS clothes and their designer: MonifC.
MonifC, created by mother/daughter team of Monif and Elaine Clarke, exude high fashion and vibrant living with their cornicopia of colors and style. Each and every item scream sexy, classy, fun and with the right pair of shoes and accessories, an outfit is a guaranteed success.
This clothing line, specifically made for the plus sized woman has been created specifically for breaking the mold and going beyond what is offered to us.
"Today as a plus size woman, Monif understands the need for a new perspective in the plus size market. "It took me many years to appreciate my curves and recognize them as a plus and NOT a minus. I know that there are women like me who recognize that we get dressed everyday in the hopes of reflecting creatively what we bring to the world. I was tired of buying the standard uniform that every woman has, I needed luxurious feminine clothes that make a statement...Who says plus size can't be sexy, luxurious, and feminine??"
Speak on it sistah.
MonifC Designs can be found on her website www.monfic.com as well as via myspace at www.myspace.com/monifcplussizes.
Hope to see you shining..

Spring 2007 Fashions: Dresses Are Back!
Ladies, it is time to break out the dresses as the girly girl look is back with a vengeance. Everyone knows that a great dress can flatter any figure and these trends are no exceptions. From the runway to your way, we'll review the dresses that will be heavily in stock for Spring 2007:
The babydoll dress, can be worn with jeans and flats for a casual look and can be dressed up with a pair of peep toe pumps or wedges for a night on the town look.
The shift dresses exudes a look that is summertime classic all the way, if paired with pumps you are guaranteed a polish look that can be worn to work with ease.
The well known Jersey dress, such as this one screams fashionista. I especially love the color of this dress shown here as it can be used as a cocktail dress or worn for a spring get together.
The kimono dress screams uptown girl on the go. Is there anything else that can be said about this dress other than FABULOUS?
A definite work outfit, the wrap dress is one of the most versatile of the bunch because of its put together look.
Last but not least, the sun dress, shown here with a halter top and in the ever fashionable floral print. These dresses scream spring and summer!
As we spoke about in the last blog, not every trend is for us. Below, we review dresses that MAY NOT compliments our figures and why...
As we discussed in our previous blog, plus sized women have to pay extra attention to the trends that may not compliment our bodies. Certain dresses like the tent and trapeze dresses shown, may contribute to making our frames appear larger than they actually are. Because dresses like these are free flowing, it does not compliment our shapes, a look we are DEFINETELY not going for.
Can't wait to see my plush divas wrapped in fabulousness this spring and summer!
Enjoy!

Misconceptions About Plus Size Clothes
As I surf the net in search of great clothing (for great prices, might I add), I am appalled at the selections that are offered to us. I refuse to have all of my fabulousness wrapped in a mumu, caftan or "gym clothes." (You can't be serious with wearing sweats and a big ass t-shirt to the club, get with the times babes.) So, with that being said I have made it my life's mission to find great pieces of clothing and accessories for prices ranging from $100 and under. But before I do that, please let me help you understand the misconceptions about shopping for plus sizes:
* Before you even put cash or that lovely plastic down by the cash register, get to understand your body type. Not every fashion trend or look will look good on you. Be aware of your problem areas, I refuse to allow my plush sisters to walk around with it sloppy, let's get it together for 07'. Find several pieces that accentuate your body shape and brings attention to the areas that you love the most. Above anything else, you have to be comfortable in your skin and love what you have.
* Walk outside the norm of shopping at Plus sized designated shops and I guarantee you will find several pieces of clothing that can put together one hell of an outfit. I always find that you'll get some basic clothing accessories at places like Urban Outfitters (www.urbanoutfitters.com), H&M (www.HM.com), Express (www.expressfashion.com) and many more. The sizes in these stores vary, but on a whole they are generous with the size chart.
My team and I are currently thinking of more things to add to this list. Oh yeah, there is a Plush Watch Inc. team and they will soon be introducing themselves to you. So, get comfortable.

Welcome to my world
Well well.. here I was thinking that I was going to comment on one of the best blogspots I have seen in a while, http://www.stealstyle.blogspot.com and I up and get my own blog. I tell you boy, God works in mysterious ways. But I digress, welcome to the world of Ms. Virginia Slims, better known as the Plus Sized Fashionista, attempting to take over the world, one couture piece at a time. New York is my home and I am currently in a long term relationship with fashion. It is something that consumes me more than it should, however I am completely comfortable with my addiction and don't care to explain myself. If you happen to be one of the few Plush Divas like myself who prides herself on taking that extra step to look and feel good in no matter what you wear, then this is the place for you. I intend to fulfill my duties and keep you updated with the lastest fashions for the plus sized woman. Let's start the revolution ladies, shall we?
